Odion Ighalo will travel with the Manchester United squad for their Premier League trip to Chelsea on Monday night, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

However, the Red Devils boss refused to say if Ighalo would feature at Stamford Bridge to make his Man United debut.

The Old Trafford club completed the loan signing of the striker on deadline day in January in a move that was seen as a surprise by some.

The former Watford man, who has been playing in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Shenhua, has trained alone while his new teammates were out in Marbella for their winter break.

However, despite his lack of match sharpness, Ighalo could have a cameo role in a game Man United really can’t afford to lose.

Elsewhere, Solskjaer responded to midfielder Fred’s explosive interview earlier this month.

The Brazil midfielder explained United’s various issues and said they are ‘lacking a lot’ and have problems with squad unity.

Below you can see what Solskjaer said about that, Ighalo, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay’s fitness as well as what he expects from the Blues on Monday night…

On whether Odion Ighalo will feature against Chelsea

“I never said he was going to be ready to play on Monday, he’ll be involved with us and he will travel down with us.

“Now he’s out of that two week period, precaution and just a precaution we made and let’s see if he’s involved or not.

“We’ve kept in touch with him and of course we’ve done our own programme, he’s done his, and it was always going to be a case of him having to integrate having been out in China.

“He needs to get used to the players, and the team, up to speed as quick as he can. He’s been working really hard.

“As a striker you get thrown on out there and it might be he’ll have to come off the bench and get us a goal and he does whatever he’s done.”

On Fred’s explosive interview

“This group sticks together. Don’t worry about that.

“I haven’t seen the interview or I don’t understand what he’s saying. I’ve seen him sat there in his kitchen. Fred knows this is a group that wants to give everything for each other.

“I don’t know how to interpret what he said but I’ve got no issues at all and I’ve got no issues with the group doing everything for each other.”

On Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay’s fitness

“I don’t think we’ll get anyone back for the Chelsea game ready.

“Scotty, Axel [Tuanzebe], Tim [Fosu-Mensah] – they didn’t join too much so they are not ready to play that game. Paul is not ready, of course.

On next opponents Chelsea

“A win gives us a three point gap, and that’s what we’ve got to aim for.

“We’ve played them twice this season and done well.

“Chelsea are a good team at home but we’re going to try and win the game, we’ve got to to give us more belief and more hope, we need to kick on.”
