Angry fans have accused West Ham’s owners of selling them a dream and losing their beloved club’s identity after their latest home defeat.

A number of angry Hammers called into talkSPORT on Monday night to vent their rage after watching their side capitulate in a 3-1 defeat to London rivals Arsenal.

It was the perfect time to face the Gunners, who went into the game on the back of a run of nine game without a victory – their worst run of results in over 40 years.

West Ham led 1-0 at half-time but then conceded three goals in ten minutes after the break, as Freddie Ljungberg claimed his first win as Arsenal interim boss and piled more pressure on opposite number Manuel Pellegrini.

And supporters were not happy about what they saw, as they fumed at their Chilean boss and the West Ham board – saying the club have gone BACKWARDS since leaving Upton Park for the converted London Stadium in 2016.

Glen the Hammer was one of the angry fans who called into The Sports Bar on Monday night, and he fumed: “I don’t even think sacking the manager is going to benefit us as a club, with the owners in charge I can’t see us going forward with them.

“They literally sold us an absolute dream with the stadium. It’s just a soulless bowl with scaffolding for a lower tier.

“Yes, people can say they spent money this year bringing in a few players, but then with players we’ve sold and the wages we’ve lost with them going… I just think they look at it is a business, it’s a business for them and they make money out of it.

“Karren Brady sold us this dream of, ‘it’s going to be a world-class stadium with a world-class team’. Where is this world-class team? Where is this world-class stadium?

“If we’d have been leaving Upton Park now, coming home from that game, nobody would bat an eyelid because that’s just West Ham. We were up and down. We were losing games here and there and we’d go on a little bad run – that was just West Ham.

“We’ve moved to this new stadium to move forward, but we’re not moving forward, we’re moving backwards!”

But while Glen believes sacking Pellegrini will mean little if the board remain in charge, Josh the Hammers fan says the club ‘need a shakedown from top to bottom’ and wants both the manager and owners to move on.

“Pellegrini has to go,” he said.

“He’s tactically inept! He’s played Haller up on his own all season, but he was unbelievable for Frankfurt last year with Jovic next to him in a two. So why does Pellegrini play him up top on his own? It’s beyond me!

“Our buys in the summer… we’ve needed a central midfielder for years and years now and we didn’t buy one, and we got rid of our second goalkeeper Adrian. Fabianski gets injured and we get that clown Roberto in goal throwing balls into the net.

“The owners really need to look at themselves. They took us out of Upton Park and any West Ham fan would be OK with this if we were still there and we retained our identity and our culture, but they didn’t.

“The whole club needs a shakedown from top to bottom. It’s almost depressing being a West Ham fan at the moment.

West Ham passionately calls for Manuel Pellegrini to be sacked after 3-1 defeat to Arsenal

“It just seems to be getting worse. There were empty seats there tonight as well, people are just turning off. Something really needs to change.

“I think we’ll definitely be in a relegation scrap, but we haven’t got the players to bring a bit a bit of bottle and fight. We’ve got Noble and Rice and that’s about it.

“We’ve got so many players just strolling around the pitch and not showing anything for the badge.

“We’ve got 60,000 fans turning up every week to that soulless bowl and we’re just not being served it up on the pitch.”
