Liverpool and Everton fans had their journey to Anfield delayed – after a naked man put his testicles on a car bonnet.
With traffic already built up ahead of a sell-out Merseyside derby encounter, the man’s indecent exposure proceeded to add more time to the journey.
One witness, who was driving home from work, told the Liverpool Echo: “I honestly can’t believe I have seen that driving home.
“I was driving along the stretch by Iceland and he was running along the carriageway. I thought he was wearing a beige outfit to be honest. But then he ran out in front of a line of traffic.
“He put his parts on the bonnet of the car next to me. I have never seen anything like it.
“Everyone was beeping, I drove past him and when I looked back, he was bent over with his bottom in the air looking between his legs at the traffic.”
The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was detained by police and taken to hospital as a precaution after being taken away from West Derby Road, Tuebrook at 4pm.
When fans did make it inside the ground, they saw Liverpool thrash their struggling local rivals 5-2 to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League at eight points.
Two goals from Divock Origi, including an excellent second, along with further strikes from Sadio Mane, Xherdan Shaqiri and Georginio Wijnaldum made it a night worth waiting for.
