INDIA REVIEW! Mayank given leg before to Mehidy. The batsman reviews.A loud shout as Mayank goes for the sweep. There seems to be no bat. Ball-tracking shows the ball missing the stumps. Decision overturned. Mayank survives on 82.
150 up for India; they’re now in the lead.
Mehidy Hasan has been brought in; he hasn’t bowled so far this Test.
REVIEW AND OUT!! KOHLI GOES FOR A DUCK!Loud shout for leg-before against Kohli off Jayed. The on-field decision is not out. No bat involved. But ball-tracking shows the ball is hitting! On-field call is reversed! The Indian captain has to depart for a rare duck. Bangladesh have done well to pick up two wickets in the first half hour of the day.
50 for Mayank – his 6th fifty-plus score! After he was dropped on 32, he hasn’t given Bangladesh much of a chance. Gets to his half-century with a boundary.
OUT! Bangladesh don’t pay a heavy price for that drop.Pujara falls for the fuller ball. It’s the same length that Bangladesh need to bowl to eke out wickets, and it’s done the trick. The full delivery was bowled outside off, Pujara drives and gets an edge that flies to gully. Taken by the substitute. Hasan is off the field to get his finger checked. But that’s the end of Pujara’s dynamic knock. Jayed with his second.
Dropped!Early chance spilled as Mehidy Hasan is slow to stretch his arm to pouch the catch. Pujara slashes, and slashes hard. Gets a thick edge that flies to gully, and goes beyond. Hasan only gets fingertips to it as the ball races away to the boundary. Another four after that andPujara has a Test fifty! Off just 68 balls. Both Indians have been handed lives now.
Play time in Indore n Day 2
It’s going to be a great wicket to bat on today. No green anymore… sand-coloured!
Hello and welcome to the Live Blog for Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Indore. India start the day trailing Bangladesh only by 64 runs, with nine wickets in hand. They’ll be hoping to get past that mark quickly and pile on the lead. After a forgettable Day 1 for the visitors, can they put up a better performance today?
The mean and efficient Indian bowling machine was in action again, dismantling the Bangladesh line-up in a clinical fashion as the visitors were skittled out for 150, losing their last seven wickets for only 51 runs. Mohammed Shami was the chief wicket taker, bagging three, while Ishant Sharma, R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav picked up two apiece.
India lost Rohit Sharma early in the chase but an unbeaten 72-run stand between Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara, with the latter scoring at a strike rate of 70.49 with seven boundaries, helped the hosts end Day 1 in a commanding position. Here’s the detailed report.
