Atalanta are expected to again use Josip Ilicic as a False 9, as Duvan Zapata is not fully fit to face Manchester City.

La Dea need at least a point in their match against Man City tonight to have any chance of progressing to the last 16 of the Champions League, having lost all three of their matches so far, conceding 11 goals and sit rock bottom.

The group game kicks off at San Siro at 20:00 GMT, with City winning the first match 5-1.

After several weeks out, Colombian striker Duvan Zapata trained with Atalanta for the first time this week, however it is very unlikely that he will make the squad for the game.

Gian Piero Gasperini could continue with the false nine approach he has adapted for most of the Champions League games, therefore dropping Luis Muriel to the bench.

Ruslan Malinvoskyi is likely to play behind Josip Ilicic and Papu Gomez in attack for the home side.

Marten De Roon is expected back after missing the 2-0 home defeat against Cagliari, and should play in central midfield alongside Remo Freuler.

La Dea should line out in their familiar 3-4-1-2 formation. Mario Pasalic and Luis Muriel are expected to come off the bench if the home side need a goal.

Man City are without midfielder Phil Foden, who was sent off in the first game at the Etihad despite only coming on as a sub in the second half.

David Silva, Rodri, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are all out through injury.

Ederson is expected back in goal after being rested in the 2-1 win over Southampton, Gabriel Jesus is slated to start at the expense of Sergio Aguero as City’s main striker.

Riyad Mahrez could replace David Silva, and former Juve defender Joao Cancelo is expected to replace Jose Tasende at left-back.

Probable line-ups

Atalanta: Gollini; Toloi, Palomino, Djimisti; Hateboer, Freuer, De Roon, Castagne; Malinovskyi; Ilicic, Gomez

Man City: Ederson; Mendy, Stones, Otamendi, Cancelo; Gundogan; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling, Bernardo Silva; Gabriel Jesus
